Asphalt Drum Mixers Provides Mineral Filler Silos to Supplement Aggregate Mixture

January 27, 2010 - National Edition
Construction Equipment Guide

Asphalt Drum Mixers Inc. offers stationary and self-erect mineral filler silos, which are compatible with both its own and similar competitive models of asphalt plants. When the amount of baghouse dust is insufficient for an aggregate mixture, the silo can add minerals to fill the void. Both stationary and self-erect models are available in 250- and 500-barrel capacities to meet the demands of various operations.

The mineral filler silos feature a pneumatic conveying system, which adds the stored minerals to dried aggregate. It uses a 3-in. (7.6 cm) diameter pipe with relief valve to convey material and is powered by a 10- or 15-hp (7.4 or 11 kW) motor, depending on asphalt plant capacity. The silos’ volumetric metering system includes a vane feeder with a rotary air lock and V-belt drive. An optional reverse weigh pod also is available. All components are manufactured with a heavy-duty steel design.

Self-erect silos are transported on a gooseneck trailer with a fifth-wheel kingpin hitch. The trailer features a single axle, air brakes, leaf spring suspension and a hydraulic system that allows the silo to erect quickly and easily.

Safety features include an open mesh guard on all belt drives, caged roof-access ladder and top perimeter guardrail. Available options include air fluffers and a discharge flange for the vane feeder. The system requires an ADP-100 process computer to operate.

A family-owned company since 1974, Asphalt Drum Mixers Inc. offers asphalt plants, auxiliary equipment, parts and service.
