Atlas Copco has introduced a line of eight drum cutter attachments to its range of construction tools. The DC drum cutter range is available with service weights from 440 to 6,395 lbs. (200 to 2,900 kg) and is suitable for carriers from 1 to 50 tons (.9 to 45 t). Atlas Copco drum cutters can be used for surface profiling, trenching, frozen soil, excavation and demolition. The drum cutters also can work underwater to a depth of 98 ft. (30 m) without additional installation.

The cutter drum has an optimized pick pattern for higher productivity, and because of the resulting small grain sizes, cut rock or concrete can be used as backfill material without additional crushing.

The DC drum cutter range features a high torque gear motor for increased productivity and motor durability. Sturdy spur gears provide optimum energy transmission with minimum service requirements, and the robust housing design with hardox wear protection increases equipment uptime. The drum cutters are able to rotate 360 degrees with a central fixing bolt for easy positioning.

Drum cutters are an economic solution when the application of conventional excavation methods and percussion systems make it difficult to achieve a desired result. Atlas Copco’s drum cutting technology allows accurate removal of material in tunnels, trenches and any other kind of rock or concrete surface. Low noise and vibration levels make the new range of drum cutters suitable for use on restricted job sites and in sensitive urban areas. DC drum cutters are a complementary product to Atlas Copco hydraulic breakers and are ideal for softer rock applications up to 14,500 psi compressive strength.
