Construction Equipment Guide

CMI’s PR-800-7/12 is designed for job-site flexibility and production performance. Whether you need to mill a full interstate lane of 12 ft. (3.7 m) or a residential half lane and shoulder of 7 ft. (2.13 m), the innovative single-module cutter and housing make changing cutter drums easy and fast.

The 12.5-ft. (3.81 m) drum eliminates the extra pass normally associated with 6-ft. (1.83 m) drums, thus saving time, personnel costs and machine wear and tear. By having this same machine easily convert to narrower cutting dimensions, owners realize a significant cost savings and bidding advantage since one machine can do the job of two. The 7-ft. (2.13 m) drum is especially useful for deeper cuts, as well as for work where extra milling width is not necessary.

In addition to 12.5-ft. and 7-ft. (3.8 and 2.1 m) cutters, five narrow-width cutters for cuts up to 1-ft. (.3 m) deep also are available. They range in size from 2 ft. (.61 m) to 6-ft. (1.83 m), in 1-ft. (.3 m) increments. An optional cutter and housing assembly provides 10 ft. (3.05 m) and 12.5-ft. (3.81 m) cutting capability with a center mounted pin-on cutter housing assembly featuring a three-piece 44 in. (111.8 cm) diameter cutter. Cutting mandrels can plunge/flush cut curbs and other vertical objects up to 12 in. (30.5 cm) for increased versatility.

The operator’s station on the PR-800-7/12 is located up front to provide excellent visibility to better monitor cutter side clearance, conveyor discharge and the work area ahead. The profiler features an electronic dash with the controls logically arranged and very easy to read. Automotive-type steering wheels are located on both sides of the panel, so steering can be accomplished from either side. The three tracks can be easily maneuvered through four modes of steering: front only, rear only, front and rear coordinated, and crab steering.

The easy-to-use and maintain Hydra-Mation control system meets plus/minus .125-in. (3 cm) tolerances. The system provides 100-percent hydraulic grade and slope control. Two hydromechanical elevation control units are standard, with a third for the rear optional. All have manual or automatic modes, controlled individually by the operator. CMI also offers an optional non-contact, sonar-based electronic grade sensor system.

The PR-800-7/12’s engine, belts, and conveyors are built to meet the harsh, demanding conditions of profiling. A direct mechanical drive is used, rather than a hydrostatic system, to deliver up to 40 percent more available horsepower. Most major components are modular, designed for easy removal and replacement. The profiler comes with a quick change cutting tool unit with an engine-mounted air compressor for pit-crew style tooth changes. The tooth holders themselves also are replaceable.

Asphalt or concrete, half lane or full lane, the PR-800-7/12 makes short work of the toughest, most challenging profiling projects.
