JCB has added a compact model, the all-new 525-60, to its growing range of Hi-Viz construction telescopic handlers.

With a maximum lift height of 20 ft. (6 m) and a maximum load capacity of 5,500 lbs. (2,495 kg), the 525-60 is just 5 ft. 10 in. (1.7 m) wide and 6 ft. 3 in. (1.9 m) tall, with three steer modes including four-wheel steer allowing access to multi-story parking garages and operation in confined areas. Featuring a modern side-engine mount design, the 525-60 Hi-Viz replaces the 524-50, 527-55 and the 520-50 rear-engine models. This design permits a low-boom pivot point for maximum stability and increased visibility to the rear of the machine and across its boom.

Powerful Drivetrain

Powered by a new Tier IV Final, 2.5-L, JCB Diesel by Kohler four-cylinder engine, the 525-60 delivers 74 hp (55 kW) for easy lifting performance and rapid travel. As with other JCB engines there is no requirement for any aftertreatment, including a diesel particulate filter or an SCR system, to meet the Tier IV Final emissions regulations. This means that the JCB machine has a service-free emissions control system, reducing downtime, operating costs and complexity for customers.

A simple-to-operate, two-speed hydrostatic transmission offers travel speeds of up to 16 mph, and the machine’s short wheelbase makes it extremely maneuverable. Equipped with a 21 gpm (79.5 Lpm) hydraulic pump, the machine delivers auxiliary hydraulic power to accommodate a sideshifting carriage. Customers can choose between JCB’s Q-fit carriage, compact tool carrier or a universal skid steer compatible attachment interface for ultimate versatility and fleet acceptance.

Operator Comfort

The 525-60 benefits from a spacious cab with flat glass throughout, making it easy to change windows in the event of damage on site and reducing ownership costs for the customer. Both key and keypad immobilizer options are available and the machine can be ordered with a choice of canopy or fully glazed cab, with the option of air conditioning.

All boom functions are controlled by a single servo control joystick, with proportional control of the two-stage boom extension allowing smooth operation and precise control for the operator. Single or double auxiliary services can be specified, allowing the use of a wide range of dedicated JCB attachments to be used with the compact machine, greatly increasing versatility and utilization, particularly for a rental fleet.

Serviceability is much improved with the side-mounted engine installation, and all service checks can be carried out from ground level. Depending on the territory, the machine can be supplied with JCB’s LiveLink telematic monitoring system for maximum fleet visibility and maintenance control.

The 525-60 is fitted as standard with 16.5 in. (42 cm) pneumatic tires and there is a semi-solid tire option available for those customers working in particularly harsh environments. Other options include full road lighting kit, screen guard and cab mounted work lights.
