The Georgia Utility Contractors Association Inc. recently elected Angela Lance, Peed Bros. Inc., as the 2012-2013 GUCA President at the 2012 GUCA Annual Conference in Hilton Head Island, S.C.
Angela Peed Lance is a lifelong residence of Butler, Ga. After working in the banking industry for a few years, she began working for Farmers Home Administration, USDA as a housing clerk. In 1992, she joined her family business, Peed Bros. Inc. As in any family business, she learned all aspects of the business including selling animal feed and fertilizer, as well as tires. She worked closely with her husband, Charles, learning the utility construction industry. This includes take-offs for potential jobs and attending pre-bids and bids.
Lance has served on the GUCA board of directors in the following positions: 2007-2009 Director; 2009-2010 Secretary; 2010-2011 2nd Vice President; and, 2011-2012 1st Vice President. She has served on several GUCA committees including golf, membership and education.
Lance is a commissioner representing the city of Butler, Ga., on the Flint Area Housing Authority Board. She also serves on the zoning appeals board for the city of Butler, Georgia.
Lance also will serve with newly elected officers and directors that include: First Vice President Regina Shelnutt, Advanced Clearing Concepts LLC; Second Vice President Ed Shipley, Ronny D. Jones Enterprises Inc.; Treasurer Mark Gravel, Willow Construction Inc.; and Secretary Bobby Cates, Ruby-Collins Inc.
The new associate directors elected include: Sally Boven, 3M/Reflective Apparel Factory; and John McLean, Yancey Bros. Co.
Directors elected for 2012-2014 include: Lauren Atwell, Layne Heavy Civil Inc.; Sherri Broom, Southern Champion Construction Inc.; Charlotte Garrett, Rockdale Pipeline Inc.; Matt Graves, Brad Cole Construction Co. Inc.; and Kirk Walker, John R. Walker Inc.
Those continuing on the board as directors for 2011-2013 include: Matt Chatham, Blount Construction Co. Inc.; Brandon Cooper, Construction Perfected Inc.; Richard Krauss, STS/Utiliquest.; Garland Long, Lakeshore Engineering LLC; and Sanford Stokes, Western Summit Constructors Inc.
