HEAVYQUIP recently completed a series of upgrades to its facility in Dade City. The building was painted and new lighting was installed in the shop and parts department but the major upgrades were the addition of new tools for the shop and increased parts inventory.

“Since I took over two years ago we have done a lot of renovations,” said Eddie King, Dade City manager. The appearance of the facility is a lot better and we added new equipment to increase our capabilities. Additional welding equipment has been added and track press tooling put in. We can turn pins and bushings and repair tracks. Also we are continually adding computerized systems to support the machines so we can keep up with technology. Our inventory of new and remanufactured parts also was increased. We are trying to put money back into the business to keep us up to date while growing our business.”

HEAVYQUIP’s Dade City facility is set up to make repairs to all brands of equipment.

“We can repair equipment, do fabrication, remanufacture engines both long and short blocks, but undercarriage rebuilding is our specialty,” said King. “We can do complete undercarriages for most lines of equipment. We have a really strong fabrication shop and also do align boring. We want to be the customer’s one stop shop for his equipment maintenance needs. We have sources for parts for most brands of equipment.”

John Mcleod is the service manager and has extensive experience in equipment maintenance having grown up in the equipment maintenance business. The full-service shop has 10 technicians and they also have field service available. Reman engines are dyno tested before being put back in to service.

In addition to equipment maintenance, HEAVYQUIP also has a full line of parts for most construction equipment. Tommy Fleming, parts manager, who has more than 25 years of experience in the industry, runs the parts department. Parts they carry include ground engaging tools, asphalt paver parts, rubber tracks, engine parts, final drive and steering clutch parts, hydraulic parts, torque converter and transmission parts, sweeper parts and undercarriage parts. Ground engaging tools include a complete line of cutting edges, motorgrader blades and bucket teeth and adaptors. The company is a BYG authorized distributor of bucket teeth. They also repair buckets and reskin them. New and reman parts are their specialty but they can get used parts if that is what the customer needs.

“We pride ourselves on taking care of the customer and standing behind our work,” said King. “We do what we say and we do not spend the customer’s money without their approval. That is one of the biggest things I am high on. We quote the job and then we stand behind our price. If there is additional work we write it up and send a new quote to the customer. It helps with the bond and the trust with the customer. I am really a stickler on that. It has helped us grow our business. We pride ourselves on customer support and we “Care Harder” when it comes to comunicating with our customers,. We are going to do what we say.

“We have also gotten in to the used equipment business. We have several pieces of equipment right now that we have gone through and done some repairs and have them for sale. We are trying to expand our business in that direction.”

King worked 36 years with John Deere and Cat dealerships before joining HEAVYQUIP. Working with him in the Dade City office are Jim Warren and Jeff Lake, outside salesmen.

“Both Jim and Jeff have extensive experience in the equipment business. Jim works the southern part of Florida and Jeff the northern part. They will measure your undercarriage free and give you an undercarriage report on what they see you need. They can be your equipment manager to help you see what maintenance is coming up and they can quote you on additional work. If you have a fleet of equipment it is important to have these guys become your undercarriage experts. They will put on undercarriage clinics for your operators. We have a program we can do on your job site and we can train your guys on how undercarriages work and the maintenance needed to keep it running longer.”
