On Dec. 21, 2012, Gary Hammond, general service manager, Howell Tractor accepted the Diamond Service Award for Howell’s Service Department for five years and 550,000 hours with no lost time accidents. It was presented by Bob Seeman, corporate safety director, during the holiday luncheon at the corporate facility in Hazel Crest, Ill.

“At Howell, we work very hard at stressing the importance of maintaining a safe work environment,” said Tom Ellis, general manager. “This is an example of how the hard work, focus and attention to detail by all involved pays off by keeping our employees both working and home with their families. I am very proud that Howell received this award and of the job that Gary and his crew did in earning it.”

“I think the size and magnitude of the equipment we work on makes the accomplishment even more impressive,” said Hammond. “To erect at the time America’s largest mobile coal handler in monsoon conditions, to erect the largest steel handling machines at Northwest Indiana Steel Mills regardless of conditions separates us from other heavy equipment dealers regarding potential hazards.”
