On July 19 to 21, 2010, the Illinois Association of Aggregate Producers’ (IAAP) will hold its 14th annual Illinois Teachers Workshop: Rocks, Minerals & Mining in Today’s Society, at Chestnut Mountain Resort in Galena, Ill. The goal of this workshop is to inform teachers in grades K-12 about the importance of rocks, minerals, and mining in everyday life.

“We accomplish this by allowing participants to tour active mining operations and by providing information, teaching aids, and hands-on activities they can take back to their classrooms,” IAAP said.

Companies or organizations may sponsor teachers to attend the workshop or can donate education materials or corporate promotional items. They also may make a cash donation to help defray workshop costs such as bus transportation for tours, educational materials and speaker accommodations.
