JCB has unveiled a 7.3 ton (6.7 t) conventional tail-swing compact excavator, as part of its commitment to continuous product development and productivity improvement. With growing global demand for compact excavators, the 67C-1 delivers durability, efficiency and productivity.
The 67C-1 is a totally new model in the JCB line-up and has been designed to grab a bigger share of this growing sector of the market.

The 67C-1 previews a completely new look for JCB compact excavators, with a revised H-design undercarriage, robust steel body panels, a spacious operator environment and fuel efficient engines that deliver increased productivity and lower operating costs. The machine is powered by a JCB Diesel by Kohler 55 hp (41 kW) Tier IV Final engine, powering Bosch Rexroth hydraulic valves and Nachi slew motors and track drives.
Site Safety
The machines feature JCB’s 2Go hydraulic safety system, already seen on larger JS excavators. In addition to the standard hydraulic cut-off that is activated by lifting the left hand lever, the operator is required to activate the hydraulic system through a button on the right-hand console. This reduces the chance of operators working the hydraulic levers from outside the cab, improving safety on site.
The machines are available with a twin locking, factory-fitted quickhitch system, incorporating a flashing red LED warning light on the boom, indicating a quickhitch activation operation is in progress to operators and bystanders.
Robust Digging Equipment
The machines feature a fully bushed heavy-duty swing bracket design, with widely spaced bearings to prevent wear. In addition, JCB compact excavators use a new graphite-based pin and bush design delivering 500 hour greasing intervals, for reduced daily maintenance and lower operating costs. With a 6 ft. 6 in. (2 m) dipper arm, the 67C-1 delivers a maximum digging depth of 13 ft. 3 in. (4 m) and a ground level reach of 21 ft. 2 in. (6.4 m). Bucket tearout is rated at a powerful 10,678 lb. ft.
Comfortable Operator Environment
The 67C-1 shares the same cab structure as the heavier 85Z-1/86C-1, delivering a large spacious operator environment, featuring flat glazing all around for easy replacement or repair of the glass. A revised heating and ventilation system, with optional air conditioning, offers improved airflow throughout the cab, improving operator comfort and rapidly clearing windshields in colder months.
Rapid Travel Capability
JCB compact excavators sit on an all-new H-pattern track frame, with an open design and sloping side frames for easy cleaning. The tracks, with longer frames, deliver improved strength and stability and both machines can be ordered with steel, rubber or road liner (GeoGrip) tracks. Travel speeds are 3 mph, allowing faster repositioning on site and cutting downtime.
The machines also benefit from a completely redesigned dozer blade and arms. The blade profile has been optimized for smooth material flow and there is no requirement for steel plate on the rear, allowing easy cleaning of the machine. Blade edges are angled to prevent damage and a four-way angle adjustable dozer, specifically designed for the North American market, is available as an option, all controlled via an electro-hydraulic dozer control lever in the cab.
Reduced Ownership Costs
The JCB 67C-1 features 100 percent pressed steel body panels, delivering sturdy component protection and easy repair. JCB compact excavators benefit from improvements in their SAE service and maintenance rating, due in part to the tilting cab and repositioned components. With lower fuel consumption and no requirement for daily greasing, ownership and operating costs will be dramatically reduced, according to the manufacturer.
The new JCB compact excavators have a cab structure that can be tilted by 30 degrees to allow access to hoses and hydraulic components, for ease of repair and maintenance. JCB also has improved the grouping of components to reduce maintenance times. In addition the machines have removable side skirts and panels for maximum service access, along with improved access to the cooling pack.
