The American Road & Transportation Builders Association (ARTBA) board of directors has voted unanimously to grant “Lifetime Membership” status for industry leader Jack Kinstlinger, the chairman emeritus of Maryland-based engineering firm KCI Technologies. The action came during the association’s national convention in Memphis, Tenn.

Lifetime membership is one of the highest honors ARTBA bestows and is given to recognize extraordinary, long-term service to the association.

Kinstlinger’s contributions to the transportation construction industry and the association world are many. He joined KCI in 1984 as president, and became chief executive officer and chairman of the board in 1988. Previously, he was deputy secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and state highway director in Colorado, and has worked as an officer for two global consulting firms.

Kinstilinger’s volunteer leadership positions in ARTBA spans two decades, having served as president of its planning and design division (1993-1994), northeastern region vice chair (1996-2007), and most recently as transit and rail advisory council chair (2007-2012). He also is the 1997 recipient of the “Guy Kelcey Award,” which honors outstanding service to the ARTBA planning and design division.
