The Kansas City Associated Equipment Distributors (KCAED) has announced the recipients of the KCAED Scholarship Fund for 2012.
The recipients were selected from a large group of applicants, based upon academic excellence, dedicated involvement in their school and community activities and their intended course of study.
The 2012 high school graduates selected were: Alexander Smith, Lee’s Summit North in Lee’s Summit, Mo.; Kevin Marrant, Liberty High School in Liberty, Mo. and Joshua Hurla, Wabaunesee High School in Paxico, Kan.
Three of the 2011 scholarship recipients, David Hudson, Jeremy Burns and Timothy Herman, all of whom are currently attending Linn State Technical College in Linn, Mo., will be awarded a KCAED Scholarship for a second year based on their current academic standing. Linn State’s equipment technology degree programs are AED Accredited.
The KCAED Scholarship Fund was created by KCAED to promote careers in the heavy equipment/construction equipment industry with an emphasis on technicians and equipment repair.
Since 2009, the scholarship fund has rewarded 11 high school seniors with college and post-secondary scholarships. Each student applicant must complete a comprehensive application and provide merit letters from teachers and leaders in their communities, in addition to writing an essay about why they are pursuing heavy equipment repair as a major course of study.
The scholarship provides for an annual award of $1,000 ($500 per semester) with an opportunity to renew the scholarship for a second year, if a 3.
