Developed to work in a variety of conditions from rough terrain construction sites to landfills, the HM350-2 articulated dump truck is equipped with two-stage lift cylinders, hydropneumatic suspension front and rear, maintenance free oscillating hitch and wet multiple disc brake retarder.
Komatsu’s new articulated dump truck features a powerful, clean SAA6D140E-5 turbocharged, after-cooled diesel engine which provides a maximum net output of 394 hp (294 kW). The new engine meets both EPA Tier III and EU stage 3A emission regulations. The easy-to-load body has a heaped capacity of 25.9 cu. yd. (19.8 cu m) and a low loading height of 9 ft. 9 in. (3 m).
The HM350-2 is equipped with the latest Komtrax technology. It sends machine operating information to a secure Web site utilizing wireless technology. Hour meter, location, cautions and maintenance alerts — to name a few of its features — are relayed to the web application for analysis. The Komtrax fleet monitoring system increases machine availability, reduces the risk of machine theft, allows for remote diagnosis by the distributor, and provides a wealth of other information to drive business efficiency and productivity.
High Performance for Enhanced Productivity
The HM350-2 dump truck has more horsepower and torque for higher productivity, which leads to improved fuel consumption and increased revenue, according to the manufacturer. The Komatsu designed electronically controlled countershaft transmission with K-ATOMiCS ensures proper clutch pressure and controls both the engine and transmission by monitoring vehicle conditions. This high technology transmission control system assures smooth shifts without shock and maximizes powertrain life.
The engine power mode selection system allows the operator to easily select the appropriate mode depending on the working conditions: power mode for job sites with larger production at uphill-hauling and economy mode for light work on flat ground. Provisions for tailgates are standard for faster and more cost effective means of attaching tailgates in the field, according to the manufacturer.
Improved Cab
The new dump truck is equipped with an ergonomically designed cab that offers a quiet and comfortable operator environment. The integrated cab and floor provide an airtight cab and reduce noise. The wide cab features a large electrically operated window for better visibility and improved production and safety.
For greater safety and visibility, the number of mirrors have been doubled to include two front under view mirrors and four rear view mirrors. In addition, an electric heated rear window facilitates defrosting for enhanced visibility and safety. Environmentally friendly lead-free radiators help keep the environment safe.
Dumping is now easier with an electric, low effort body dump control lever and the dump counter is standard, making it easier for the operator to track daily production.
Easy Maintenance Reduces Service Time
The HM350-2 was designed to keep service to a minimum with easy access to filters and longer intervals between oil changes. For maintenance, the cab can be tilted rearward 32 degrees to provide easy access to the engine and transmission. The number of grease points has been minimized by using maintenance-free rubber bushings. A heavy duty transmission guard protects the transmission from damage when operating in rough terrain, while a new protective grille reduces damage to the front grille area in severe applications.
