After more than 40 years of dedicated service with Lehigh Hanson and its predecessor companies, Michael “Mike” Stanczak Sr. vice president and general manager of the Midwest Materials area in the north region, has decided to retire at the end of the year.

Stanczak’s tenure with the company began in 1974 when he accepted a finance position with what was then Material Service Corporation. After holding a number of sales management positions, he was promoted to vice president of sales in 1992, a position held until he was appointed president and CEO of Material Service Corporation in 1999. Following Hanson’s acquisition of Material Service Corporation in 2006, Stanczak was named regional president. He was appointed to his current position in 2008.

Over the years, Stanczak’s leadership and knowledge of the aggregates business has been invaluable, according to the company. In addition to his many contributions to Lehigh Hanson, Stanczak has held key roles in several industry associations and is well-known in the Chicago business community. He is the past president of the Illinois Association of Aggregate Producers and currently serves on its board of directors.

IAAP President Bryan Hood recently recognized Stanczak for his 18 years of service on IAAP Board. Stanczak also serves on the executive committee of the Better Business Bureau of Chicago and Northern Illinois, and the executive committee of the National Stone, Sand and Gravel Association.
