The Milton CAT Milford facility hosted the monthly meeting of the Construction Equipment Maintenance Association (CEMA) June 25.

“We were proud to have such a progressive, dedicated group of people visiting our facility,” said Massachusetts and Rhode Island Product Support Sales Manager Rob Horan, who added that several members of the CEMA group expressed appreciation for the opportunity to see some of the advanced technology utilized by Milton CAT.

That same evening, the Milford site also was visited by a group of Milton CAT customers.

“We had over 70 guests,” explained Horan, “plus Milton CAT personnel representing the service, parts, machine sales and credit departments.”

The audience enjoyed a well-planned event, with good speakers and a delicious dinner at the end, according to Milton CAT. The agenda included an overview of an undercarriage rebuild, a presentation by Keystone Precision Instruments on machine control systems and a tour of the newly completed Milton CAT service solutions center.

Led by Milford Service Supervisor Paul Cosentino, the undercarriage rebuild overview was conducted on the shop floor. With the attendants grouped around a D8 track-type tractor, Cosentino explained the steps involved in a typical undercarriage rebuild and used samples of worn out components to illustrate the importance of proper maintenance and service. Cosentino held his audience’s attention when he put a price tag on machine maintenance, contrasting replacement of components or parts when needed versus waiting until the machine breaks down and causes unplanned downtime.

The group then moved to a conference room where Tom Hogan, regional sales manager of the Construction Division of Keystone Precision Instruments, gave an in-depth presentation about the features and benefits of Trimble machine control products, building positioning instrumentation and survey products — GPS, robotics, GIS, data collection, data prep and scanner technologies.

The next stop was at the recently completed service solutions center. Using computerized overheads and graphics, manager Josh Gaynor explained the department’s goals and gave an overview of the cutting-edge technology that supports Caterpillar equipment owners.

Horan expressed Milton CAT’s appreciation for the evening speakers and presenters.

“We received numerous compliments from our guests regarding the presentations made by Milford Service Supervisor Paul Cosentino, Keystone Precision’s Tom Hogan and Service Solutions Center Manager Josh Gaynor. It was great having our guests and we hope to have them back before too long.”
