Milton CAT hosted complimentary seminars on caring for and maintaining Cat compact equipment. The seminars were geared to owners of one or two machines. According to Milton CAT VP of Sales, Dave Perry, in today’s very competitive environment, contractors don’t want to waste a single opportunity for getting new business or holding onto existing projects, and making sure their equipment is well cared for to avoid downtime is a top concern.

This series of four workshops was conducted at the Milton CAT’s Milford, Mass., location in March. According to Perry, the four lunch-and-learn events attracted hundreds of guests from all over the state.

As guests arrived at the recently opened 179 Quarry Drive Training Center, they were guided to a reception area where there were informational stations manned by subject matter experts focusing on fluids and filters, quickits, work tools, new and used equipment and fluid analysis. Following a hot lunch buffet, Milford-based Compact Equipment Shop Service Supervisor Steve Phillips and Compact Lead Service Technician Keith Correia delivered machine walk-arounds, discussing maintenance intervals, providing everyday trouble-shooting techniques and reminding guests of common sense but often neglected practices.

“I couldn’t believe how attentive our guests were,” said Inside Sales Manager Chris Robichaud. “You could have heard a pin drop as Keith and Steve went step-by-step through each machine.”

Questions ranged from the basic, “How long should a daily walk-around take?” to requests for more information on how to get oil samples analyzed or what to do if you were afraid there were contaminants in your machine.
