Houston-based NCI Building Systems served as the Medal of Honor sponsor for ConocoPhillips’ 5th Annual Warrior Sporting Clays Tournament Sept. 28 at the American Shooting Center in Houston, Texas.
The event raised nearly $210,000, surpassing its goal, for Team Red, White and Blue, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to enrich the lives of U.S. veterans by connecting them to their community through physical and social activity.
NCI’s contribution comprised of volunteer time, help with fundraising efforts for Team Red, White and Blue, and sponsoring five veterans to join NCI employee teams at the clay shoot. This is a meaningful opportunity for the employees and their customers to spend time with veterans and express gratitude for their service, according to the company. This was NCI’s third time sponsoring the event. More than 50 volunteers were on hand.
“NCI leadership has long been passionate supporters of the armed forces, and we have enthusiastically participated in similar opportunities, in recent years, to sponsor military-focused fundraising events as a company,” said Delvin Warner, president of corporate accounts at NCI Building Systems. “We encourage our employees to get involved in events like this along with their colleagues and families, and we’re excited to join ConocoPhillips and Team Red, White and Blue in their mission to honor and support our military and their loved ones.”
The funds collected at the tournament will be used to fund Team Red, White and Blue’s Veterans Triathlon Camp in spring 2014. Programs like these give veterans a unique opportunity to learn a new sport or activity that they can take home to their local chapter, and are built to inspire participants to commit to their own health and fitness.
Support of the Warrior Sporting Clays Tournament is part of an overall effort by NCI to focus on helping members of the armed forces and their families. NCI was also a presenting sponsor for the SEAL Legacy Foundation Golf Classic Tournament earlier this year, which raised more than $600,000 for the organization. The SEAL Legacy Foundation’s mission is to support the U.S Navy SEAL community by raising funds for scholarships and financial needs of SEALs and their families.
