CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - Charlotte Douglas International Airport has kicked off a 10-year, $2.5 billion construction program including changes to the terminal, roads and airfield.
The Charlotte Observer ( http://bit.ly/1buc9Xq) reports construction on the new series of projects will begin this summer, including expansion of the terminal lobby, Concourse A and the addition of a new runway and new roads.
The renovations are part of the ”Destination CLT’ program and are paid for with revenue from airlines, state and federal grants and concessions.
The new plans come on the heels of a recently wrapped-up $1.5 billion round of projects that remodeled the airport’s hourly deck and entrance roads.
Officials say the new construction will cause disruption for passengers, but they will try to minimize problems.
