At its fall meeting in Scottsdale, Ariz., the PCA board of directors named James G. Toscas president/CEO and elected John Stull (Lafarge) chair and Karl Watson Jr. (CEMEX USA) vice chair.

Stull, president and CEO of Lafarge North America Inc., previously served as vice chair. A long-standing member of the PCA board of directors, Stull takes over from Cary O. Cohrs, president of American Cement Company LLC.

“Under the guidance of Mr. Cohrs, PCA has continued as the leader and voice for the cement industry,” said Stull. “This is an important time for PCA to champion resilient construction, and advocate for critical national infrastructure funding, both which will ensure the vitality of the cement industry.”

Karl Watson Jr., president of CEMEX USA, succeeds Stull as vice chair.

“I am honored to be a part of the PCA leadership,” said Watson. “PCA will continue to lead on a variety of issues important to the cement industry including advocacy, research, and promotion to increase the use of concrete in the U.S.”

The board also appointed James G. Toscas president and CEO of PCA effective Dec. 15, 2014. Toscas previously served as president/CEO of the Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute. From 1998 to 2002, he was executive vice president and CEO of the American Concrete Institute and was executive director and CEO of the American Nuclear Society prior to joining ACI.

“Jim brings to PCA a wealth of skill and knowledge that will serve the association and membership well,” said Cary Cohrs, PCA’s immediate past chair and chair of the recruitment committee. “He understands the value of membership engagement and its vital role for the success of the association.”

“PCA is a leader in the cement and concrete industry. It is an honor to safeguard that reputation while establishing the paths to move it toward new challenges and opportunities,” said Toscas.
