WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) State officials are reviving plans to expand Florida’s Turnpike to eight lanes in Palm Beach County.

Though no construction money has been allocated yet, the Department of Transportation said it wants to start work in the next five years on the project.

The Palm Beach Post reported a similar expansion had been announced in 2007, but the plans were stalled because of the recession.

Officials call the resurrection of the expansion another sign of a recovering economy.
