Harold A. Parker Jr. died on Oct. 6, 2013, with his family by his side. He was 85.

Born and raised in Collingswood, N.J., Mr. Parker moved to Folsom, N.J., in 1969 where he served on the Folsom borough council, was a member of the Folsom Republican Club, the Folsom Volunteer Fire Co., the Shade Tree Commission, the Collings Lakes Civic Association and the Atlantic County Fire Police. He also was a Mason at Melita Lodge # 295.

Mr. Parker was the owner and operator of Rush and Parker Inc. in West Collingswood Heights, N.J.

When asked what he did for a living, Mr. Parker had a mantra — “We buy, sell, rent and repair heavy construction equipment.” And that is what he did for a large majority of his life. Mr. Parker was part of the company since its formation in 1965 when it was started by his father, Harold Parker Sr., and Elston Rush. He also was heavily involved in the construction industry for many years before that.

Mr. Parker had a wealth of knowledge when it came to equipment specifications and was considered by many to be an expert, especially on but not limited to, Bucyrus Erie conventional cranes, many makes of clamshell and dragline buckets and all parts and accessories related to those items.

He was predeceased by his son Michael Scott Parker; parents Harold Sr. and Alva Parker; and sister Nancy Taraschi. Surviving are his wife Martha Jane (nee Helzer); his children Scott Harold Parker (Barbara) of Bellmawr, N.J.; James Roseberry (Nicol) of Moultonbourgh, N.H.; Sharon McKnight of Blackwood, N.J.; Janel Roseberry of Lake Gilman, N.J.; Jennifer Calabria (Joseph) of Dingman’s Ferry, Pa.; and Jayme O’Neill (Thomas) of Pitman, N.J. He was the loving grandfather of 11 and great grandfather of four.
