Scott-Macon hosted the grand opening of its new Dallas facility, located at 2525 Irving, Blvd., Sept. 23.

Approximately 75 people attended the event and were treated to a tour of the facility, which included an introduction of some of the Terex cranes, barbeque lunch, door prizes and relation-building. The establishment of the Dallas Scott-Macon Equipment facility is an addition to the array of existing locations throughout Texas, Oklahoma and Louisiana.

The new facility will be responsible for approximately 140 northern Texas counties.

There are four full service trucks with booms and one light duty service truck. More full service trucks are on the way. These trucks are now part of the 30 service trucks owned by Scott-Macon

Many company dignitaries visited the event including owner Al Scott from New York and his son, Alex who is the treasurer.

“We have always taken care of our customers’ equipment with 24/7 parts and service, but during these economic times, we are making a special emphasis on product support to make sure their existing equipment stays on the job with little or no down-time,” Sam Renz, Dallas branch operations manager, said.

The presence of Bill Coffey, retired from Phillips 66 in Pasadena, Texas, was a highlight of the event.

“We really were pleased that Bill could make the event since he was very influential in helping Scott-Macon get established in Texas during the early 70’s,” Allan Woodruff, senior vice president of the company, said.

Mike Petrey, vice president of product support commented, “We were very pleased that so many customers took time from their day to join the opening because it is obvious without these folks, we would not be here.”

The Dallas facility for Scott-Macon Equipment is responsible for machine sales, parts and service for Terex hydraulic rough terrain cranes, all terrain truck cranes and boom trucks. The company also represents American, Demag, Broderson, Mantis and JLG. Scott-Macon maintains facilities in Houston, Corpus Christi and now Dallas, Texas, as well as Tulsa, Okla., Baton Rouge and Houma, La.
