`Underground Construction Technology (UCT) International Conference & Exhibition offers its full-conference line up of educational programs taking place Jan. 27 through 29 at the George R. Brown Convention Center, in Houston Texas. Keynote speaker Lyle Larson, state rep. of the Texas House of Representatives, will discuss how funding from the Texas Water Development Board can help Texas cities and water authorities facing critical water issues.

This special keynote session is part of the WaterWorks Conference being held at UCT on Jan. 27. A second keynote session will be presented by Kathleen Jackson, director, Texas water development board. Jackson will discuss changes made on the Texas water development board since the passing of the water funding from the Rainy Day Fund. The WaterWorks Conference focuses on water infrastructure issues, impacts and long-term solutions.

Thirty-five trade associations and universities co-sponsor the UCT educational sessions. Led by prominent industry leaders offering realistic approaches in handling workplace challenges, the program delves into important issues facing the underground utility infrastructure and provides workable solutions based on past experiences.

A host of specialty programs are sponsored by: Gas Technology Institute (GTI); National Association of Sewer Service Companies (NASSCO); North American Society for Trenchless Technology (NASTT); and the Center for Underground Infrastructure Research & Education (CUIRE). Attendees can earn Continuing Education Units (CEUs) or Professional Development Hours (PDHs) granted by the University of Texas at Arlington or industry certification, depending on the specific course taken.
