On Friday, March 6, Roger Penske – founder and chairman of Penske Corporation and IndyCar Series and NASCAR Racing legend – and five members of Penske Corporation made a pit stop at the Terex manufacturing facility in Eagle Farm, Australia. Their primary mission: tour the Terex Cranes facility, meet team members, learn more about, and test drive the Terex® Pick & Carry crane models for which Penske Corporation supplies major powertrain components.

For more than 10 years, Terex Cranes has been a Penske customer, purchasing engines and transmissions from MTU Detroit Diesel Australia, owned by Penske Automotive Group Inc. for the Terex® AT15, AT 22 and MAC 25 Pick & Carry cranes. “Over the years, we have purchased many units engines and transmissions,” says Danny Black, General Manager for Terex Australia Pty, Ltd. “Penske is a valuable supplier, offering us engines and transmissions for fast and reliable pick and carry cranes.”

With the aid of turbocharged and intercooled diesel engines and Allison® transmissions, Terex Pick & Carry cranes are legendary for their highway speeds, so they quickly get to the jobsite. Featuring articulated frame construction with pick and carry lifting that requires no outriggers, the cranes set up fast and begin working almost immediately, so contractors can complete projects quickly.

Hinged engine covers and mid covers provide fast servicing, so Terex Pick & Carry cranes spend less time in the pits and more time in the field. The 5-speed Allison automatic transmission offers both 2-wheel and 4-wheel drive for excellent traction, maneuverability and cornering and top out at highway speeds reaching 85 km/h (53 mph).

Before hitting the track for their next stop, Penske and Penske Corporation representatives were photographed with Terex Team Members in front of the Terex MAC 25 Pick & Carry crane. “We thank Roger and the Penske team for visiting our facility and appreciate the valuable contribution they have made to the success of the Terex Pick & Carry crane line,” adds Black.
