Yanmar’s ViO55-5B mini-excavator has a true zero-tail swing design, allowing for 360 degree turning of the counterweight within the width of the crawler. Tracks are positioned to present a stable platform with 6 ft. 6 in. (2 m) of total width. High tensile strength steel keeps the machine light while providing safety and balance for the operator. The maximum bucket digging force is 9,015 lbs. (4,089 kg) with a digging depth of 13 ft. 8 in. (4.2 m). The unit weighs 11,530 lbs. (5,230 kg) with a canopy and 11,817 lbs. (5,360 kg) with a cabin.

The ViO55-5B utilizes a tailor-made hydraulic quick coupler as standard equipment. This will make attachment changes a one-person job, thereby maintaining a higher level of job productivity. A new angle blade option also is available on this machine. The angled blade assists when backfilling in trenching operations, the blade extensions keep the machine further away from the delicate edge of the excavation, which can help reduce the risk of the trench side caving in. This angled blade with its standard ’floatation’ characteristics make grading and leveling jobs easier and faster than ever, according to the manufacturer.

ViO crawler technology by Advanced Stability (VICTAS) delivers an expanded track gauge for greater stability without increasing undercarriage width. The VIPPS (ViO progressive 3-pump system) increases power and speed along with improved fuel economy. Short pitch rubber track tread blocks offer improved driver comfort in travel mode.
