The ALL Family of Companies has acquired two new Liebherr all-terrain cranes to serve customers in the south. The new machines include a 600-ton (544 t) Liebherr LTM 1500-8.1 and a 350-ton (318 t) LTM 1300-6.2.

The company already owns two of these LTM 1500-8.1 ATs, which have been regularly serving jobsites in Canada and the northern part of the United States. The new machine will be shared among branches in the south.

The 1500-8.1 is a strong all-terrain crane. This AT is well suited for work at industrial job sites, such as setting large transformers in power plants, lifting tower cans for wind farms or setting steel in refineries. The crane is an ideal choice for customers who want a single machine to travel roads, to traverse uneven terrain at job sites and to handle heavy lifting in tight spaces.

The LTM 1500-8.1 will be equipped with both long 276 ft. (84.1 m) and short 164 ft. (49.9 m) boom systems, allowing optimization of crane transportation logistics while still providing desired capacity and reach.

“In some cases, only transporting the short boom will save the customer time and money,” said J. Hutton Strader, business development specialist of ALL. “And with the boom systems interchangeable between machines, that gives an added bonus in terms of flexibility.”

Liebherr introduced the LTM 1300-6.2 in 2013. This mid-range capacity AT offers a cutting-edge, single-engine design that provides multiple advantages over previous, two-engine models. With the single engine concept, the operator uses drive mode for highway speeds, and then switches to crane mode for lifting, transferring the power where it is most needed. This lowers fuel consumption and results in less total machine weight, allowing for a larger superstructure and additional lifting capacity with a heavier load or longer boom. The automatic shift into “ECOmode” when idle for a period of time means increased efficiency, though the operator maintains ultimate control over the power transfer, switching to drive mode whenever necessary. The new LTM 1300-6.2 will be based in Atlanta.
