ASV, a manufacturer of rubber track loaders has introduced the ASV Scout SC-50.

“We have been developing the Scout for nearly four years and we’ve integrated components from our time-tested Posi-Track machines,” said Brad Lemke, director of new product development at ASV. “Heavy-duty construction and dependable operation make the Scout ideal for the most rugged conditions. This is the perfect machine for construction crews, survey crews, utility companies, pipeline workers, cable crews and many other services.”

The Scout’s undercarriage features the same Posi-Track technology used in ASV’s earthmoving equipment. The combination of suspension, all-rubber track, 10 rubber wheels that disperse weight across a 15-in. (38 cm) wide track and a uniquely designed sprocket with roller system provide the machine with a smooth, quiet and efficient operation, according to the manufacturer.

The undercarriage suspension provides comfort for the operator and passenger, while also providing load retention in the bed.

“The Scout is highly maneuverable,” said Lemke. “A high traction powertrain provides efficient transport over slippery conditions such as mud or snow, while a 5,000-lb. towing capacity gives you the muscle to get the job done right.”

The Scout provides a travel speed of 11.5 mph (18.5 kmh), a fuel capacity of 30 gal. (113 L) and low ground pressure.

It is powered by a Perkins 404C-22 diesel engine that features four in-line cylinders, a peak torque of 105 ft./lbs. and a displacement of 134 in. (340 cm).

The Scout also features a smooth hydrostatic drive that is operated by a special “Quick-Shift” two-way pedal — one side for forward and the other side for reverse. No shifting is required. The body of the Scout also features two headlights and one rear light for work on the platform.

“The sky’s the limit when it comes to attachments and features,” said Lemke. “The Scout offers an auxiliary hydraulic system for front- or rear-mount hydraulic attachments such as a snow blade, dump box and a variety of other innovative attachments that are in development.”

The optional auxiliary hydraulic system is a 16.3 gal.-per-minute (61.7 Lpm) system with quick connect fittings controlled by a joystick located inside the cab, making the hydraulic system easy and convenient.

A dump box option on the Scout provides utility (3,300 lbs. [1,497 kg]) and capacity (more than 35 cu. ft. [.99 cu m]), approximately twice that of the largest wheeled utility vehicle.

The dump box also features easy-on, easy-off operation and is designed with integrated frame and lift cylinder for quick installation. Side board holders are built in for increased capacity of light materials. The Scout features a front and back receiver hitch and can also be fitted with smooth tracks for work on turf or other fragile surfaces.

“This is an easy maintenance machine,” said Lemke. “The Scout offers easy service and access to the battery, air cleaner, fuel fill and hydraulic fill via door panels. No matter where you are you’ll be able to access these components with ease.”
