Brasfield & Gorrie Sept. 24 announced the completion of St. Vincent’s Medical Center Clay County, a new 160,000 sq. ft. (14,864.5 sq m) facility that was built to address the healthcare needs of residents in the region.

“This facility gives residents of Middleburg direct access to local, high-quality healthcare,” said Erik Sharpe, division manager of Brasfield & Gorrie. “Also, the design and construction of the medical center allows for expansion, enabling the medical center to serve the community well into the future.”

Brasfield & Gorrie was the general contractor for the project that will open its doors to patients on Oct. 1 with 64 private inpatient rooms, but is designed to expand to 250 beds in the future to accommodate population growth in the area. The medical center houses an intensive care unit, imaging suites, administrative offices, and areas for radiology, nuclear medicine and fluoroscopy services. Brasfield & Gorrie also constructed an adjacent 60,000 sq. ft. (5,574.2 sq m) medical office building.

According to Sharpe, construction of the medical center began in April 2012, and the project was completed ahead of schedule.
