The 914 L06 engine, delivered from DEUTZ Xchange in Pendergrass, Ga., undergoes a 300-point reconditioning process, which includes all of the latest advancements.

Located at 1444 Vernon St. in North Kansas City, Mo., the very first DEUTZ Power Center officially opened for business on Sept. 16. DEUTZ marked the special occasion with a “Blues & Barbecue” event. Attendees enjoyed a live band, catering by Joe's Kansas City BBQ, facility tours and an official ribbon cutting with dignitaries from the Kansas City metropolitan area in attendance.

“Changing exhaust legislation has continued to make our products more complex,” said Robert Mann, DEUTZ Corporation president and CEO. “We understand that some of our OEM partners may be experiencing challenges related to the transition from Tier III to Tier IV emissions standards. Our DEUTZ Power Center is designed to provide a level of technical excellence and support that can help OEMs overcome those challenges.”

The Power Center concept varies somewhat from the DEUTZ service centers scheduled to open soon in Chicago and St. Louis. A DEUTZ service center provides regularly scheduled maintenance and emergency service of DEUTZ engines, as well as genuine DEUTZ parts and fluids, to customers, dealers and qualified OEM dealers with DEUTZ-powered equipment. The company's power center will do all that and much more.

“Creating this DEUTZ power center was very important to our overall business, because it allows us to work closely with many of the local area manufacturers across the Midwest,” said Michael Wellenzohn, a member of the DEUTZ AG board of management with responsibility for sales, service and marketing. “Our goal is to ensure that their service and product support needs are fully met.”

Supported by a staff of 17, DEUTZ Power Center Midwest is the first of its kind, providing dedicated application engineering and technical sales resources closer to smaller and mid-sized machinery manufacturers that use DEUTZ products. According to Mann, the decision to locate the very first DEUTZ Power Center in the Kansas City area was an easy one.

“We like north Kansas City's central location in the Midwest sales territory, and we truly appreciate its pro-business environment,” Mann said. “In fact, city officials and the business community at large have been incredibly helpful and friendly throughout the startup process. We really appreciated their support and cooperation as we prepared to launch this important new business concept for DEUTZ and its customers.”

Customers within DEUTZ Power Center Midwest's designated sales area can also purchase new DEUTZ engines powered by diesel fuel or natural gas, as well as DEUTZ Xchange remanufactured engines. Manufacturers can receive custom, value-added production and assembly services that result in the best possible DEUTZ solution for their engine specification and configuration needs.

“Our staff is in place, and we're looking forward to introducing our suppliers and customers in the Midwest to the new DEUTZ Power Center concept,” said Dennis Romanson, general manager of DEUTZ Power Center Midwest. “It's exciting to be able to offer OEMs and equipment end users better proximity to trained DEUTZ technicians and engineers.”
