Construction Equipment Guide

Deere’s H-series wheel loader line is expanding to include the 324H four-wheel-drive loader.

The 324H, the second model in the Deere 300H series lineup, is part of the complete line of H-series loaders spanning from the 244H to the 744H.

Like the larger 344H, the 324H is designed to serve a variety of markets including rental, material handling, building construction, road construction, governmental, agriculture, landscaping, nursery and underground.

The 324H competes in the under 75-kilowatt (100 hp) loader class and features maximum operator comfort and visibility, enhanced maneuverability, and increased versatility.

Attachments

Attachments for this 6,804-kilogram (15,000 lb.) loader expand its capabilities beyond normal dirt work. For easy handling of various attachments, the 324H offers a choice of either mechanical or hydraulic coupler. Attachments such as forks, augers, jib booms, brooms, compactors, grapples, multipurpose or side dump buckets all greatly enhance the versatility of the loader for different job applications in various market segments.

Engine and Powertrain

Powered by an emissions-certified Powertech 4.5-liter (1.2 gal.) engine, the 324H wheel loader delivers excellent performance with 60 kilowatt (80 hp).

A two-speed hydrostatic transmission with electronic shift control provides smooth operation and dynamic braking. The operator has infinite speed control with a variable-speed inching pedal, making it possible to maintain high engine rpm with slow travel speeds for attachments that require this feature and for finish grading.

A limited slip front axle with outboard planetaries features 45 percent locking ability. The parking brake is a spring applied, hydraulically released disk and caliper with frame-mounted debris guard.

Hydraulics

The open center, high pressure hydraulic system of the 324H incorporates a two-function pilot-operated loader control valve with single lever control.

Deere offers an optional third function pilot-operated loader control valve with auxiliary lever for multipurpose buckets and front attachments. A fourth function control valve with momentary three position electric switch mounted in the right console is also optional.

The results are good metering characteristics with low effort for smooth control and faster cycle times, plus excellent lift-to-crowd match and combined functions.

Maneuverability

The 324H has stereo steering which combines articulation with rear axle steering to give the shortest turn radius in its class. It also has excellent maneuverability in confined areas, as well as superior tipping loads (less articulation) in full turn situations.

Operator’s Station

The large cab has dual door entry and a greater glass area with lower cut glass for better visibility. Both doors also have sliding windows. Reduced sound levels and improved sound quality add to a more productive operating environment.

The modernized exterior of the 324H extends to the interior styling and trim. A tilt steering column and front console, add comfort while a multi-function monitor provides audible and visual warnings.

The 324H wheel loader is backed by the CounterParts program. Based on the idea that critical parts should be at dealerships when customers need them, anyone who buys or rents a 324H wheel loader from a certified CounterParts dealer can count on machine-down parts that can be replaced in under two hours being at the dealership — or they are free.

The CounterParts program is part of Deere’s Total Repair Cost Management (TRCM) strategy for customer support. TRCM is a lineup of ongoing programs and services that help control costs, preempt downtime and reduce stress that sometimes accompanies owning and operating equipment.
