Approximately one in six children in the U.S. lives in a household without consistent access to enough food, according to data from the No Kid Hungry campaign. With a desire to impact this statistic, Fluor team members in Baytown, TX recently donated $35,000 to Goose Creek Consolidated Independent School District (CISD) to fund the purchase of a food truck.

“When we heard about the number of children who rely on free or reduced-price school meals, we wanted to make a difference,” said Steve Midoneck, director of site services for Fluor. “At all of our project and office sites around the world, we strive to make a positive impact on the community. Fluor invests in social services programs that feed the hungry and provide preventative and emergency services in times of crises. We are pleased to partner with Goose Creek CISD as they provide nutritious meals to children in Baytown and the surrounding areas.”

In the summer months, when school meals are not available, Goose Creek CISD provides free, nutritious meals to children ages one to 18 years old. The food truck will be used to deliver meals to children at area parks, libraries and community centers.

Fluor is currently working on Chevron Phillips Chemical Company LP's U.S. Gulf Coast Petrochemicals Project in Baytown, Texas. Funds were raised from proceeds generated from vending machines located throughout the project site.

To date, the project team has donated more than $85,000 to support Baytown-area non-profit efforts.
