Fluor announced July 25 that it has been awarded engineering and procurement services for the design and construction of Ajinomoto's facility expansion at its Raleigh, N.C. manufacturing site.

Fluor will provide engineering and design of the process building and utilities, procurement of the process equipment, and construction and installation of the new facilities. The $30 million expansion will add capacity to make Amino Acids used in pharmaceuticals, foods and cosmetics industries.

"Fluor is pleased to be working with Ajinomoto North America Inc. again to expand their capacity and manufacturing presence at the Raleigh, N.C. site," said Juan G. Hernandez, president of Fluor's Life Sciences and Advanced Manufacturing business line.

Fluor has worked with Ajinomoto North America Inc. for more than 35 years and was responsible for the design and construction of the original manufacturing facility, which was completed in 1982. The expansion project is scheduled to be completed in late 2018.
