Hale Trailer Brake & Wheel celebrated its new branch location in Jacksonville, Fla., with a grand opening on Nov. 10. Barry Hale, founder and president of Hale Trailer, and his team gathered to showcase the company's latest achievement, its newest facility at 271 Halsema Road South, Jacksonville, Fla., 32221. The beach-themed event was attended by hundreds of customers, vendors, friends and family, who all enjoyed gator tail and seafood appetizers along with a wide variety of barbeque dishes and desserts. On the pleasantly warm day, there was plenty of sweet tea and lemonade, and many guests congregating around a tiki bar.
Hale Trailer moved its Jacksonville branch to the new facility earlier this year after outgrowing a smaller location just two miles away. The new branch location is located just west of downtown Jacksonville and close to major highways, including I-10 and Highway 95. The new 27,000 sq. ft. building is situated on 25 acres and features a retail parts store, convenient rental check-in and –out facilities and six service bays.
After giving everyone a chance to tour the new facility and enjoy the food and drinks, Hale, alongside Jacksonville Branch Manager Tom Weaver, proudly welcomed the assembled employees and guests. They thanked customers and vendors for coming out to enjoy the open house and for their contributions to Hale Trailer's continued success. Hale also took the opportunity to thank his employees before drawing lucky numbers for an assortment of exciting door prizes, including gift cards and several 55-inch TV's.
Hale started Hale Trailer Brake & Wheel in 1974 after working for a small trailer rental company in Baltimore. His original location in Voorhees, N.J. was on the corner of a rural highway and a dirt road. Since that time, Hale has grown the business and expanded the product line offerings. Weaver joined Hale Trailer as the rental manager in the Voorhees location, and in 1998 presented Hale with a new opportunity.
“Tom's wife Amy is an attorney, and she was being recruited to work in Jacksonville,” said Hale. “Tom asked me if I wanted to open a location in Jacksonville, and I said 'yes'. We had no business plan; no independent studies to make this decision. Tom has trailer rental in his DNA and a great work ethic. I trusted that and his leadership abilities to make it happen.”
Hale's faith in Weaver proved to be well-placed. Over the past 18 years, the Jacksonville branch has become a core contributor for the company. This latest investment further demonstrates the company's commitment to its customers, vendors, employees and the local community. The “commitment to place” philosophy has allowed Hale Trailer to expand and be successful in multiple locations on the East Coast, from Maine to Florida. Hale believes that he has assembled the strongest group oftrailer professionals in the country, which he fondly calls certified trailer “Mutts.”
“Our commitment to quality products and service is the foundation to the longstanding customer relationships that we enjoy,” said Hale.
