The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) has awarded Superior Construction/E&B Paving the second of three contracts for the I-80/94 (Borman Expressway) and I-65 Major Moves New Construction interchange modification project Dec. 7. Awarded for $46 million, it includes the reconstruction of I-65 in the area where it crosses over I-80/94, and rehabilitation of six bridges and Colorado Street within that area.

Construction for this second contract is scheduled to begin in early 2008. More information will be made available prior to the beginning of construction.

Construction for the first contract began in spring 2007. It is addressing the ramps from northbound I-65 to westbound I-80/94 and eastbound I-80/94 to southbound I-65, as well as a section of I-65 and three bridges. The third contract, which addresses I-80/94, will begin in 2009.

After the three-year project is complete, I-80/94 will have four travel lanes in both directions from the Illinois state line to east of the interchange with a continuous merge lane in both directions up to Central Avenue. This fully funded Major Moves project will reduce construction and increase safety and mobility for motorists.

Major Moves funds a decade of critical highway projects in Indiana. When Major Moves is complete in 2015, more than 200 new construction and 200 major highway preservation projects will have been built. This innovative plan will bring jobs to the Hoosier State and leave a legacy for Indiana to be a global leader in distribution and logistics.
