JCB took the wraps off a host of new machines at ConExpo. Among the products making their debut are new midi-excavators, telescopic handlers, backhoe loaders, skid steer loaders, forklift trucks, wheeled loading shovels and tracked excavators.

At the show each day, JCB’s famous Dancing Diggers backhoe stunt team drew crowds numbering in the thousands to the JCB booth. The Dancing Diggers’ hourly dance routines are set to music and accompanied by a string quartet.

At a press conference in Las Vegas, JCB Chief Innovation and Growth Officer Tim Burnhope highlighted the huge steps the company has taken in the last four years to deliver industry-leading fuel efficiency on its machines.

“At JCB we’re very proud of our fast-growing reputation for being the most fuel efficient manufacturer in the industry,” Burnhope said. “Compared to the models we manufactured back in 2010, today’s JCB 3CX backhoe consumes an incredible 34 percent less fuel, the JCB 175 skid steer loader uses 30 percent less fuel and the JS200 excavator consumes an amazing 33 percent less fuel. These are impressive achievements, and our obsession with fuel saving is reducing the cost of running JCB machines. By early next year JCB will have saved its customers a staggering 1 billion liters [264 million gallons] of fuel since 2010, something we are really proud of.”

Among the new product highlights at the show are a new generation of JCB midi-excavators, the 85Z-1, the 86C-1 and the 67C-1, which are manufactured at JCB’s compact products factory in Cheadle, Staffordshire.
