JCB’s 540-200 telescopic handlers have an all-new five-section telescopic boom and offer customers a 66 ft. (20 m) lift height, making the Loadall the highest reaching in JCB’s range.

The 540-200 comes with a Tier IV Interim driveline and is powered by JCB’s Ecomax diesel engine, delivering 109 hp (81 kW), up from the previous machine’s 100 hp (74.5 kW). Of more significance than the power output, the JCB Ecomax engine produces a strong 377 ft. lb. (512 Nm) of torque, up from 324 ft. lb. (440 Nm) with the previous Dieselmax motor. This allows the operator to work more efficiently at lower engine revs, reducing noise and cutting fuel consumption. Equally importantly, the Ecomax engine has been designed to achieve Tier IVi emissions standards without the use of a costly, bulky diesel particulate filter (DPF) or any other form of aftertreatment. This allows JCB’s loadalls to maintain a low engine cover for maximum visibility on site, while cutting maintenance costs for customers, according to the manufacturer.

The machine comes with JCB axles and transmission, providing total component integration for maximum efficiency.

Maximum Capacity

The 540-200’s five-section telescopic boom has been specifically designed with construction use in mind, using lighter, stronger materials to achieve maximum lift capacities within the operating envelope.

The five-section boom minimizes the overall length of the machine, with the same wheelbase as JCB’s smaller 55 ft. 9 in. (17 m) machine, allowing maneuverability in confined sites. The boom is powered by a single internally-mounted extension ram and chains that ensure all five sections are extended proportionally. The design of the chain and roller system with a pre-lubricated chain results in long service intervals and minimal downtime.

A single joystick lever provides total proportional control of all boom functions and the machine is supplied as standard with an auxiliary hydraulic service with a drain to tank for powered attachments. With a maximum lift capacity of 8,800 lb. (3,991 kg), the 540-200 delivers a 5,000 lb. (2,268 kg) capacity at 57 ft. (17 m) and 3,000 lb. (1,361 kg) capacity at full height., making it a highly productive lift and place machine.

Operator Comfort

The loadall has a spacious cab with the instruments offset to one side, providing increased forward visibility. The cleverly angled roof bars provide upward visibility through the large roof window, which is crucial for fast placing of loads at height. The machine is fitted with a cab-mounted servo controlled joystick, providing control of all the hydraulic services, ideal for high productivity applications that require continuous, fatigue-free operation. The 540-200 is equipped with a seven-speed cab cooling fan, ensuring a comfortable working environment in the warmest site conditions.
