Shoreline Grading currently is excavating the 370-acre (150 ha) Stafford Park mixed-use redevelopment site owned by Walters Group of Barnegat, N.J. The mixed-use redevelopment project is located in Stafford, N.J., and will consist of retail stores, residential housing and recreational areas including a twin ice skating rink.

Shoreline’s first task was to cap the existing landfill in a short window of time. To meet this tight construction deadline, Shoreline rented 17 John Deere articulated dump trucks, a John Deere 650D LC and an 850D LC excavator from JESCO. The 850D LC is the largest excavator Deere produces weighing in at 94 tons (85 t), which JESCO retrofitted with a 7-cu.-yd. (5.3 cu m) bucket specifically for Shoreline.

“The first phase of this project called for over a million yards of material moved in a short period of time, which meant we would need a number of large machines delivered and working by a certain date to meet our deadline,” said Joe Filoon, president of Shoreline Grading. “I knew JESCO could meet our needs and timeframe.”

JESCO also supplied Shoreline with an on-site parts depot to minimize any machine maintenance downtime. This parts supply was monitored by JESCO service technicians and fully stocked with parts such as filters, hoses and cutting edges.

“It doesn’t matter what brand machine you’re using, they will all need a new filter or hose at some point,” said Filoon. “Minor nuisances and setbacks like waiting for a filter to arrive were avoided by JESCO’s forward thinking. The entire JESCO staff from service techs to salesmen to the president all worked as one team to meet our needs.”

In addition to the rentals of 17 John Deere articulated dump trucks and 650D LC and 850D LC excavators, Shoreline rents and owns a total of more than 70 John Deere machines.

“I’ve been using John Deere machines for years. They have proven to be reliable and durable, which saves me time and money,” continued Filoon.
