John Deere Power Systems announced the latest addition to its lineup of Final Tier IV industrial engines, the PowerTech PSL 4.5L engine. Engineered by John Deere to meet the needs of OEM customers, the PowerTech PSL 4.5L with variable speed ratings is equipped with an integrated emissions control system consisting of cooled exhaust gas recirculation (EGR), a diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC) and a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system.
“We continue to enhance our Final Tier IV engine lineup. With the introduction of the PowerTech PSL 4.5L engine, we're offering a common technology solution across our entire 4.5L power range from 63 to 129 kW,” said Darrin Treptow, manager, worldwide marketing of John Deere Power Systems. “The PowerTech PSL 4.5L delivers more power density and improved low-speed torque, while leveraging combustion optimization that eliminates the need for a DPF.”
John Deere designed the integrated emissions control system for the PowerTech PSL and previously announced PWL 4.5L engine platforms to balance performance and operating requirements. The PowerTech PWL and PSL 4.5L engines complement the Final Tier IV PSS 4.5L engine equipped with a DPF, providing OEMs with greater application flexibility.
The new PowerTech PSL engine without a DPF is available with power ratings from 125 to 173 hp (93 to 129 kW). The existing PowerTech PWL 4.5L engine with DOC/SCR aftertreatment delivers 85 to 140 hp (63 to 104 kW ).
