Tri-State Paving, a site excavation, paving, concrete and demolition company in Deer Park, N.Y., needed a paver. After an extensive demo process, it selected a LeeBoy 8816B.

“A number of things really impressed us about the LeeBoy,” said Carl Girolamo, co-owner, along with his brothers Alex and Chris, of Tri-State. “The paver is fully automated, computerized, and everything is completely accessible. The machine is amazingly user-friendly. All of the technology and all of the features that you would expect on a full-sized highway paver are in this LeeBoy machine,”

When Girolamo purchased his LeeBoy 8816B with a heated electric screed, it was one of the first models of this machine off the assembly line. It is an 8 to 15-ft. (2.4 to 4.5 m) paver that extends to 18 ft. (5.5 m) and is equipped with a Topcon grading system.

“All Island Equipment is our local LeeBoy dealer. Once Gary Wade, the owner of All Island Equipment, and his brother Daryl, the service manager, convinced me that they were well equipped to properly support the LeeBoy equipment, purchasing the 8816B became our obvious choice.

“I’m a tough sell. It took Gary Wade 10 years to sell me a piece of equipment. We have no regrets at all,” Girolamo added.

Quality, Versatility

“We are very impressed with the LeeBoy paver. It is definitely giving us a better finished mat than any other paver we have previously used. The screed has very consistent heat, which results in a more consistent product,” Girolamo said.

“For its size, the paver is very strong. Our first project was on Staten Island and we were amazed at how well it would push a truck up a steep hill.

“The size of the machine gives us great versatility. We can go from paving a road to a parking lot without switching machines. We [also] were very impressed with the turning radius of the LeeBoy. That certainly helped with the flexibility of the paver.”

To date, Tri-State Paving has had no service issues whatsoever with its new paver and has been pleased with All Island Equipment’s support.

“When we have needed technical support from All Island Equipment, they have been right there and did an excellent job in training our people in the use of the machine,” Girolamo said.
