Exhibitors appear to be well into their plans for the show.
The triennial mega show, ConExpo-Con/AGG, returns to the Las Vegas Convention Center March 7 to 11, 2017. The show will apparently be even more massive this time around. The name, ConExpo-Con/AGG, stands for the combined Construction Exposition and International Concrete, and the Aggregates Show.
“ConExpo-Con/AGG and the co-located IFPE [International Fluid Power Exposition] expect more than 2,500 exhibitors and there are already more than 700 new exhibitors signed up,” said Sara Truesdale Mooney, ConExpo-Con/AGG show director and vice president, exhibitions and business development of the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM). “Our industry has broken records yet again. ConExpo-Con/AGG and IFPE 2017 will offer 2,560,000 net square feet, or close to 59 acres, of exhibits for attendees to explore.”
All major construction industries are represented, including asphalt, aggregates, concrete, earthmoving, lifting, mining, utilities and more, with new/expanded areas including dams, trucking and rail.
Exhibitors appear to be well into their plans for the show.
“We are really looking forward to ConExpo and should have some exciting things on display such as a new milling machine and a new material transfer vehicle,” said Eric Baker, director of marketing and sales support, Roadtec Inc., Chattanooga, Tenn. “We are actually going to have a customer appreciation reception in our booth after the show on Thursday night I believe as well, so quite a few things worth talking about.”
Steve Warfle, product manager of InSite Software Inc., Rush, N.Y., said: “We always look forward to demonstrating InSite SiteWork Earthwork & Utility Estimating Software. At ConExpo, we will conduct short, live demos on real jobs and we'll showcase our latest release. And it's a great opportunity to meet existing customers face to face.”
Exhibitor Topcon Positioning Systems will be at the show.

“It is the perfect environment to showcase our new vehicle-mounted resurfacing solution for paving and milling projects —SmoothRide, which uses core Topcon technologies designed to deliver the smoothest surface possible, while managing materials. Our new advanced dozer machine control system — 3D-MCMAX— which eliminates the need for a mast on the blade, will be displayed. Also new this year —the Topcon Elite Survey Suite — which provides Topcon flagship geo-positioning products and technology in one system.”
It appears the show will not lack for quantity of exhibitor displays.

The outdoor Gold Lot (with Gold Hall) will extend to Las Vegas Boulevard, using the site of the demolished Riviera Hotel, and a new Bronze lot (with Bronze Hall) has been added south of South Hall, extending the length of the building.
A new addition, The Tech Experience, will span more than 75,000 sq. ft. in a specially-designed interactive area in front of the convention center near South Hall.
“We've designed this as an engaging experience that will bring to life the trends and solutions that are developing now and emerging in the next several years for the job site, workforce and infrastructure,” said Mooney.
The Tech Experience also will feature a Tech Talks educational forum and spotlight AEM's Infrastructure Vision 2050 initiative. On display will be what is being billed as “the world's first fully-functional steel 3-D printed excavator.”
The show is still a bit into the future, but clearly the show management is busy planning and anticipating the influx to what will be the second largest trade show held in Las Vegas for 2017 (the Consumer Electronics Show will be larger). The organizers of ConExpo-Con/AGG 2017 are even looking at the details of show registration.
“We have increased the number of spots for show registration and getting an entrance badge,” Mooney said. “There will be 11 remote badge pick-up locations throughout Las Vegas for convenience and a third full-service registration area, which is intended to accommodate the larger show footprint and to ensure rapid service.”
When asked how attendees can maximize their time at the big show, Mooney concluded: “Preplanning your visit is key. Attendees can use the online show planner to create a personalized agenda of exhibits, education sessions and networking meetings. There's a searchable exhibitor directory with show floor plan, a New Products and Technologies preview section, and more. And the show mobile app coming this fall enhanced with beacon technology will help attendees stay organized and connected on site. The app will continuously synch to their show planner agenda and include interactive 3-D maps. Attendees can receive show updates to further maximize their time.
“Additionally, don't miss out on the convenience of the show's education sessions, where you can interact with industry experts and get up to speed on the latest industry knowledge.”
The show will offer a record 140-plus education sessions, including a new education technology track. A new ConExpo-Con/AGG 365 weekly radio show and e-newsletter spotlight technology advancements and provide additional learning opportunities.
