Multifaceted Komatsu WA380-8 Wheel Loader Gets the Job Done

With a 6.69 L, 191 hp Komatsu SAA6D107E-3, variable geometry turbo charged and after cooled Tier IV Final certified engine, Komatsu’s WA380-8 uses up to 6 percent less fuel than its Tier IV Interim predecessor.

Komatsu’s SmartLoader Logic software combines with a lockup torque converter, which activates in second, third and fourth gears. Together, the system provides optimal engine torque for improved acceleration, hill climbing, a higher top speed and fuel savings, according to the manufacturer.

The new EC160E crawler excavator from Volvo Construction Equipment is designed with a range of new features that boost fuel efficiency without sacrificing power. Incorporating a Volvo Tier IV Final D4 engine, the EC160E boasts an 8-percent improvement in fuel efficiency, and 5-percent improvements in tractive force and engine power compared to previous-generation models, according to the manufacturer.

For further efficiency, the hydraulic system is optimized to operate in harmony with the engine, working alongside a fully electronic control system.
