Caleb Otterbach (L) and Steve Brodko, both of Otterbach Demolition & Concrete Recycling, talk about this Cat D6N dozer. Todd Nobles of Plote Construction Inc. inspects some of the equipment the company had up on the block. The auction featured a lot of late-model well maintained excavators. Ty Sparrow of Dirt Works Drainage and Excavating attends the sale. Tony (L) and Caleb Loniewski, both of E&L Paving, consider purchasing this late-model John Deere 844K wheel loader.

More than 3,700 bidders participated online and in person at Ritchie Bros.' multi-million dollar unreserved public equipment auction in Chicago, Ill., on March 24.

With bidders from 44 countries, approximately 66 percent of the equipment in the auction was sold to out-of-state buyers, from as far away as India, Thailand and the United Arab Emirates. Online bidders purchased approximately 58 percent of the equipment sold (by dollar value).

More than 2,500 equipment items and trucks were sold in the auction, including 70 excavators, 50-plus loaders, 45 skid steers, 25-plus dozers, 20-plus loader backhoes, 20 articulated dump trucks, 25-plus dump trucks, 75 aerial work platforms, 40-plus forklifts, 250-plus trailers, 150 truck tractors and more.—CEG
