Road Machinery & Supplies Co. (RMS) held an open house for its new Rochester branch location in Byron, Minn., on Oct. 4. More than 250 customers, employees, manufacturer representatives and community members attended the event.

"Rochester is an area that we have been really excited to be a part of, and we found the perfect spot with our Byron location. Prior to opening this branch, we had been serving the area from our Savage location, so this was a great chance for a lot of our employees and customers to put faces to names and create a community effort," said RMS Vice President of Sales Joe Schmidtlein.

The event featured tours of the facility, door prizes and local food trucks from Bleu Duck Kitchen and The Compadres catered the lunch. The day also featured on-site equipment demos and static equipment displays, and students from Byron High School's trades classes also attended.

"The Komatsu dealer network across the country is made up of local businesses taking care of local customers. With the new branch, it's going to enable RMS to be closer and more connected with the contractors, customers and local community and create value with them. We've had a long relationship with RMS, and I am happy we were able to attend and give our support to the investment RMS is making to expand the Komatsu brand," said Chairman and CEO of Komatsu North America Rod Schrader.

The Byron location is located at 101 Country Club Road on a 10-acre site outside of Rochester, Minn. The 15,000 sq.-ft. facility will provide equipment sales, service and rental capabilities in addition to technology solutions and greater parts availability for customers in southeast Minnesota and northeast Iowa. It features three drive-through service bays; a dedicated wash bay; a parts warehouse; employee offices; a training center; and an equipment yard.

Byron is the latest in a series of expansions for RMS as it moved into a new branch in East Moline, Ill., in 2017 and opened a pair of brand-new facilities in Des Moines and Cedar Rapids, Iowa, in 2020.
