Fledgling company Sales Auction Company LLC held its inaugural auction on May 1 at its seven-acre facility in Windsor Locks, Conn. The company, founded in 2009 by father and son Samuel P. and Samuel M. Sales, specializes in all types of earthmoving and heavy equipment, fleet vehicles, trucks, trailers, landcare and farm equipment sales.

The grand opening featured more than 300 lots and attracted more than 400 bidders, who went to work on the large variety of items up for bid. Items sold ranged from a 2005 Caterpillar 312cl hydraulic excavator, which sold for $51,000, to the unique antique gas pump which went to a bidder for $85. In between placing bids, attendees enjoyed a barbeque and beverages served throughout the day.
