XL Specialized Trailers recently revamped the company look. Featuring a new logo and a new Web site, XL showcased its new brand at the Mid-America Trucking Show.

XL was founded in 1995.

“It is amazing to see how much the company has changed since its humble beginnings,” said Vice Chairman Scott Wall. “We wanted to respect our foundation and develop a company brand presence to continue to reflect the professionalism, creativity and innovation that XL has always prided itself on.”

The new logo was designed to sharpen up the brand. XL Specialized Trailers’ new Web site displays the many specialized heavy-haul trailers XL produces for the construction, commercial, agricultural, oil and gas, wind, and custom markets in an easy to navigate, customer-minded layout.

XL’s Vice President of Sales and Marketing Nathan Guess said, “It is very important to us to provide premium resources for our customers; this goal is what ultimately pushed us to revive our site. We are looking forward to hearing feedback about the Web site and brand from our customers at the Mid-America Trucking Show.”

XL showcased four trailers at the Mid-America Trucking Show in Louisville, Ky., March 22 through March 24 in booth #16212. Each built with T-1 flange, 80K web and one piece construction, this array of trailers represent the vast number of applications XL trailers are designed to serve.

The booth featured two construction trailers: a 120 low-profile (scraper) hydraulic detachable gooseneck and a 110 cheater hydraulic detachable gooseneck.

The 52 ft. (15.8 m) long 120 HDG is rated with 120,000 lb. (54,431 kg) overall capacity and 120,000 lb. in 10 ft. (3 m) concentrated. It boasts the low-profile gooseneck with a 78 in. (198 cm) flip neck extension along with heavy-duty swingout outriggers and top flange reinforcement on the 26 ft. (8 m) long deck. The 12 ft. (3.5 m) low-profile neck, open boom trough and 32 degree slope of rear transition makes loading scrapers and trucks of all sizes an efficient process.

With a capacity rating of 110,000 lb. (50,000 kg) distributed, 110,000 lb. in 10 ft. concentrated, and 53 ft. (16 m) overall length, the XL cheater hydraulic detachable gooseneck handles the roughest loads proficiently. The 110 CHDG’s cheater offers seven position variable ride height positions for changing the height and ground clearance of the trailer for different applications. The 12 ft. 11 in. (3.9 m) long hydraulic neck was custom-designed to save drivers valuable time while increasing flexibility. It can be hooked and unhooked without the operator continually getting in and out of the truck. Oversized donuts and tapered load pins allow for faster hook-up on uneven ground. The chain drops and removable heavy-duty swingout outriggers provide increased versatility, according to the manufacturer.

XL also displayed two commercial trailers at MATS: a 70 mechanical full-width and a 120 step deck extendable. The 70 MFG is 48 ft. (14.6 m) long with a load rating of 70,000 lb. (31,751 kg) overall. The 29 ft. (8.8 m) long deck boasts an 18 in. (45.7 cm) loaded deck height, 6 in. (15 cm) ground clearance and features aluminum pullout outriggers, which extends the 8 ft. 6 in. (2.6 m) deck to 13 ft. (4 m) for hauling wider equipment. With 4,400 lb. (1,996 kg) capacity per extrusion, the 27 in. (68.5 cm) pullout outriggers on 18 in. centers are ideal for hauling larger tired equipment.

The step deck extendable features XL’s Extend-A-Trac, which allows for extending and retracting the trailer without hooking and unhooking electrical lines. Rated with 120,000 lb. overall capacity and 100,000 lb. in 10 ft. concentrated closed, the XL 120 SDE with a 33 in. (84 cm) ground clearance is designed to haul taller equipment as well as longer loads. The 27 ft. 6 in. (8 m) long deck extends to a 64 ft. 4 in. (19.6 m) long deck, using 6 in. (15 cm) greasable rollers, which incorporate oil impregnated bonze bushings for easy extending.
