Construction Equipment Guide

The USA-built QLT Prime Lighting tower from Atlas Copco utilizes a GenSmart permanent magnet generator (PMG,) a new engine, a 30-ft. (9 m) mast and other improvements specifically designed for the North American market.

The GenSmart PMG is 15 percent more efficient than a synchronous alternator of the same power rating. It does not require electronic control.

The original diesel engine has been replaced by a Kubota engine for North American customers. And this newest QLT features additional electrical receptacles over previous models.

Illumination is provided by four 1000 W metal halide lamps. These lamps generate 200 lumen at 30 ft. (9 m), 100 lumen at 75 ft. (23 m), and 50 lumen at 100 ft. (30.5 m).

The Atlas Copco QLT lighting tower includes a metallic enclosure with wide service doors, an electronic cubicle for control and protection, a mast that can be rotated 360 degrees and extended vertically up to 31 ft. (9.5 m), as well as stabilization legs and an on-road undercarriage.

The Atlas Copco QLT lighting tower is just one product in the broad spectrum of offerings from Atlas Copco’s construction and mining business units and is supported by Atlas Copco Service and Finance divisions.
