Dynapac’s PL350TD compact planer offers a variety of new technical developments, including the easy level leveling system and milling drum technology. It is well-suited for milling of joints, flush cutting, removing road markings and other jobs where defective asphalt or concrete surfaces are cut, according to the manufacturer.

The PL350TD is equipped with a Cummins B 3.3 engine and 60 hp (45 kW) motor power. It mills 13.8 in. (35 cm) wide to a depth of 3.9 in. (9.9 cm) with a cutting diameter of 20.5 in. (52 cm). With both a left and right steering angle of 75 degrees and a milling radius of only 3.9 in., the PL350TD is specifically designed for flush milling of manhole covers, but it also makes it easy to maneuver in narrow construction sites with little effort.

For the operator, the PL350TD offers speed control, a new instrument panel with waterproof switches and backlighting for night operation. There is an automatic mode for the conveyor belt and water spray bar, relieving the driver of constant repetitive movements. The automatic mode is activated during milling and turned off when the milling stops. Operators are able to save water and time between refills of the 106-gal. (401 L) water tank.

The front ballast of the Dynapac PL350TD can easily be removed from the machine with a forklift when a job requires less weight. The balanced distribution of weight, provided by the removable ballast, allows for milling without vibrations. This feature is beneficial when performing sensitive tasks such as demarcation.

Positioning the driver behind the cutting drum permits a clear view of the cutting edge. The driver’s placement on the rear platform facilitates faster, safer mounting and dismounting.

The Dynapac PL350TD, smallest in the compact planer range, is well-suited for a multitude of applications. It’s ideal for milling joints, milling around manholes or working in vacant lots, corners and cul-de-sacs. The right rear chassis leg can be folded for flush cutting along curbs or buildings. It also can be used for groove milling with a cutting wheel. And it’s commonly used to remove road markings, according to the manufacturer.

The easy level system provides easy-to-use, accurate levelling during daily milling operations. Menu options are easy to read, and the four values of left, right, actual, and target are clearly displayed. Sensor selection is easy to find and clearly shown. Slope regulators, ultrasonic sensors and height sensors are controlled by the levelling system.

The easy level system’s lift mode automatically elevates the machine to a pre-set value, reducing the number of steps to remove road markings or to drive over obstacles.

The electronically controlled easy level option is available not only for the PL350TD but for all models in the range.

Dynapac offers milling drum operations that are free of vibrations, protecting the machine components over time. The PL350TD comes with standard milling drums designed with one cutting tool per line and three spirals. Other variations include a drum with larger tool spacing for more economical feeding. Fine and very fine milling drums with tool spacing of 3 mm or two cutting tools per line are available and work well for surface corrections. Exterior cutting wheels to cut grooves also are available.
