A standard vehicle health monitoring system (VHMS) with Orbcomm monitors the health conditions of major machine components and enables remote analysis of the machine and its operation, contributing to reduced repair costs and maximum availability.

Special features of the PC2000-8 include:

• Low Emissions Engine

The excavator features a powerful, clean, fuel efficient, turbocharged Komatsu SAA12V140E-3 engine. The engine meets EPA Tier II emission regulations without sacrificing power or machine productivity. The PC2000-8 is equipped with working modes designed to match engine speed, pump flow and system pressure to specific application requirements, giving the operator flexibility to match equipment performance to a specific job. Two economy modes contribute to energy-saving operation, enabling the operator to select the optimum mode that delivers the best combination of production and fuel efficiency in consideration of various working conditions. Heavy lift mode activates the all-out power delivery system to increase the lifting force of the boom, which is particularly beneficial when handling rock and during heavy lifting applications.

• Easy and Cost-Effective Maintenance

The PC2000-8 was designed to reduce costly downtime with its power module packaging, which allows for the easy installation and removal of the machine’s components.


The use of a single-engine, enlarged hydraulic pumps and simplified hydraulic circuit also reduce the number of hours that are required for checking and maintenance.

In addition, a reduction in the number of parts in the machine contributes to the decrease of overhaul man-hours which results in total cost reduction. Improvements to the hydraulic system such as increased oil cooler capacity and heat resistant rubber seals also significantly increase component durability and extend the service life of the hydraulic system.

• Spacious and Quiet Cab for Optimal Operator Comfort

A new large cab designed for exclusive use in mining shovels provides ample space to relax during operation. Improved air tightness is pressurized to prevent dust from entering, and a large capacity twin air conditioner effectively cools and heats the cab. A comfortable, adjustable air suspension seat minimizes and softens vibrations transmitted to the operator. Visibility is improved through an extended front windshield, large twin wipers, a dual rearview mirror and a step light with a timer that provides light for 90 seconds while the operator disembarks from the machine. New damper mounts, in conjunction with power module packaging attain incredibly low noise and vibration that is equivalent to a passenger car [64.5 dB(A)]. A new easy-to-use, high-resolution, 7-in. TFT-LCD monitor displays nine languages and provides improved panel visibility to ensure a secure and smooth operation. A function key allows the operator to easily perform multiple functions.
