The ZX35U-5, ZX50U-5 and ZX60USB-5 are the newest compact excavators to join the Zaxis Dash 5 lineup by Hitachi.

The compact excavators deliver the same reliability, performance and operator comfort as the preceding Dash-3 series, with numerous customer-driven enhancements.

“By specializing exclusively on excavators, we took the time to listen to our customers and incorporate their suggestions into the Dash-5 compact excavators,” said Mark Wall, product marketing manager at Hitachi. “We’ve designed operator-friendly machinery that contains power and performance, stability and durability — all things operators need on the job site. With their easy-to-maneuver compact packages, it makes working around job site obstructions easy to do.”

The Dash-5 compact excavators tote a nimble, yet durable design that makes it easy for operators to squeeze in and out of small spaces. This makes the machines particularly well-suited for rental, commercial/residential building, landscaping, underground and site development segments.

In addition to the ZX35U-5, ZX50U-5 and ZX60USB-5, Hitachi also offers the ZX17U-2 and the ZX27U-3 compact excavator.

Key new features of the ZX60USB-5 and the series’ smaller models — the ZX35U-5 and ZX50U-5 — include:

• FT4 engine solution: The Dash-5 series excavators feature a Yanmar engine that meets EPA FT4/EU Stage IV emissions regulations. These easy-to-maintain engines require no special additional fluids — just ultra-low-sulfur diesel fuel and CJ-4 engine oil.

• Improved cab entry and visibility: The updated door design provides improved visibility to the left side of the machine when the door is in the closed position. The new door design also improves the size of the opening for entering the cab — a key improvement over the Dash-3 models.

• Improved serviceability: Improved access to the coolers gives operators the ability to more effectively clean the cooling cores.

• Exceptional reliability: The Dash-5 series uses the same major components that have provided a high degree of reliability for the Dash-3 models. As a result, customers can utilize their current front-structure attachments.
