SENNEBOGEN 718 Forestry - the Special Crawler Harvester

Thu April 04, 2013 - National Edition
Construction Equipment Guide

The new SENNEBOGEN 718 Forestry is particularly well suited for use on difficult terrain. With a special forest crawler drive unit, and the proven forest telescopic boom, the machine impresses with low consumption values, and particularly due to the high range with extremely compact dimensions and maximum visibility.

Extremely stable, and at the same time ideally gentle on the ground, the specially developed forest crawler drive unit of the 718 F combines these attributes. With generous ground clearance of 0.6 m and a track width of 2.20 m for the long drive unit, with start-up diagonals on both sides, the machine is not only extremely stable, it can also maneuver without hindrance on difficult terrain and with a wet substrate. The robust, two-link plates protected by strong support skids are available to a maximum chain width of 800 mm. Thus ground pressure is reduced to a minimum - this protects the forest floor. Optional rubber supports, dropped outer sides or additional link variants for the crawler drive unit complete the extensive equipment of the undercarriage. The optional blade is routed parallel and is ideally suited for even the hardest implementations.

The powerful and economical Cummins diesel engine in the new SENNEBOGEN 718 Forestry offer 117 kW. Large dimension hydraulic lines and valves ensure optimal energy efficiency. In ECO Mode the machine works at reduced speed in a manner that saves fuel and wear. The clearly structured, service-friendly design with the engine installed on the long side, central lubrication and maintenance points prove themselves in daily operation through fast and easy access. Two separate hydraulic circuits with generously dimensioned lines and valves optimize the oil flow and increase energy efficiency. A separate circuit exclusively supplies the attachments.

Special forest boom for maximum reach and flexibility

With a reach of 13 m, the SENNEBOGEN 718 has been specially developed for the harsh requirements of timber harvesting. The variable telescoping boom is impressive, even at full reach with an enormous net lift force. The knee-lift design enables a uniformly stable lift force curve, in addition to sensitive work movements. Thanks to the specially developed boom with special kinematics for work ranges between 0 and 13 m, you can work with the attachment to just in front of the machine. Thus reliable manipulation is possible without restriction over the entire work range.

For the operator the elevating Multicab comfort cab offers an ideal all-round view to a view height of up to 4.80 m. Particularly for working beyond young growth or if local conditions obstruct the direct view, this solution offers increased work accuracy, in addition to the highest level of safety. Thanks to the elevated position the operator has the work point directly in view at all times. In addition, the diagonal dished pulley guarantees the best possible ground view and the highest level of work safety for man and machine. A reversing camera as standard equipment helps with safe slewing and maneuvering in the skid trail.

With a short rear slewing radius the SENNEBOGEN 718 Forestry remains distinctly slender and maneuverable. This advantage is particularly noticeable when working in confined conditions. Thus skid trails of 4.50 m can be easily traversed with the SENNEBOGEN Forestry 718. The compact dimensions of the 718 F are also an advantage for transport. Even at a chain width of 800 m the transport width of the machine remains under 3.0 m. With a standard flat bed trailer the 718 F can be quickly and easily transported - complex and cost-intensive flat bed trailer and special transports are dispensed with. With different attachments the new SENNEBOGEN 718 Forestry can be used for numerous tasks in the timber and forestry industry. Collector units for the energy timber harvest, such as a harvester head or a log grapple can also be operated for effective loading of the material. Thanks to the quick change system, changing between different units is possible within short times. Thus the SENNEBOGEN 718 Forestry becomes the perfect all-rounder for virtually all areas of implementation in the demanding timber and forestry industry.
