Customers, local leaders and the community were invited to an open house at MacKinnon JCB in Tampa, Fla., as part of the road show with JCB’s highly specialized military backhoe loader, the HMEE (High Mobility Engineer Excavator) and its all-new commercial-purposed 3CX backhoe loader. MacKinnon JCB personnel were pleased to host the open house, which also supported the Lone Survivor Foundation, an organization dedicated to the recovery and healing of wounded American service members and their families, struggling with invisible injuries such as combat trauma stress, mild traumatic brain injury and chronic pain management.

MacKinnon JCB has made customers a priority since its start in 1982.

A.D. “Sandy” MacKinnon founded MacKinnon Equipment & Services in 1982 and pledged to “earn the right to do business with customers each and every day.”

The company’s commitment to providing an outstanding customer experience and its diverse product and service offerings have netted the dealerships a solid reputation for conducting business with integrity, respect and the highest degree of professionalism.

The company’s team members recognize that their purpose is to serve customers completely, with a sense of urgency. MacKinnon JCB offers sales, rentals and services new and used material handling equipment, construction equipment, warehouse products and installation in south Georgia and Florida. The company specializes in JCB equipment and carries their line of backhoe loaders, compactors and rollers, excavators, rough-terrain forklifts, wheel and track loaders, off highway trucks, skid steers, telehandlers, tractors and attachments.

MacKinnon JCB not only wanted to open its doors, but also bring awareness to the Lone Survivor Foundation. Signatures on the “Show Your Support” banner raised money at this event and others on JCB road tour for the Lone Survivor Foundation.

Guests of the open house were treated to lunch, a ride in the HMEE, the Dancing Digger’s show, a backhoe competition and door prizes.

In addition, Ben Coleman, general manager of backhoe loader sales of JCB, took time out from the open house at MacKinnon JCB to discuss the 3CX backhoe loader.

“This summer we launched a brand new 3CX backhoe loader and we are doing the open house, we are actually touring across the country with different JCB dealers to launch that new backhoe loader. We are using the HMEE to help promote and we are raising money for Lone Survivor Foundation.”

According to Coleman, the new CX boasts a number of new features.

“This year we added auto idle, auto throttle, various new technologies to our range of super backhoes, which makes them much easier for an operator to use and much more fuel economical.”

The 3CX comes with a Tier IV final engine standard.

“That’s a fact we are really proud of — it’s a Tier IV final engine already. It’s 74 horsepower, but it has no DPF and no DEF fluid and it’s Tier IV final ready, so it will continue through next year and the next EPA regulations when they kick in March. It comes standard not only with the Tier IV final engine, it has something that is unique in the backhoe loader world that we call auto daily checks, so you don’t need to lift the hood to check any of the fluids at all. You simply put the key in the ignition, turn it on and it runs a full diagnostic check for you. If it finds any issues, it will report it to you on the onboard LCD display, but it will also send it via the JCB live telematics package. A simple and functional backhoe, the key part, the engine is really very special.”

MacKinnon JCB is the JCB dealer of the west coast, central and north Florida as well as southeast Georgia. Its home office is in Tampa and the company has branches in Fort Myers, Orlando and Jacksonville, Fla., and Tifton, Ga.
